The highlight of the year for the online gaming world took place on 30th June 2021. That’s right — the eGaming Review (EGR) Marketing & Innovation Awards 2021 was a star-studded event, combining both virtual and physical elements to complete the night’s proceedings. And you’re in luck, as we’re going to give you your very own backstage pass to the exciting Awards event.

With some impressive nominees from the gaming and gambling industry, such as Paddy Power Bingo, Karamba, and William Hill, the evening was set to be a sensation, and it certainly did not disappoint.

The 2021 judging panel:

The judging process was completed way back in April 2021, but nominees had to eagerly wait until June to find out the worthy winners of each category. This year saw an impressive 19 judges involved, with the likes of Chris Harrison from Google and Oliver Rowe from YouGov.

The range of judges bought their individual eGaming expertise to each of the different categories for the awards, suited to their relevant subject knowledge. The process involved a rigorous analysis of submissions, of which the judges gave a score and any feedback. This was then submitted to an online judging platform, which automatically calculated the winners, who were announced on the night!

The celebrity presenter:

The prestigious Awards don’t just feature giants from the online gaming industry as the nominees, but a special celebrity host also graces the stage, albeit virtually as of late, streamed to guests for this year’s celebration. From top TV presenters to the latest comedians, they present, guide and entertain throughout the afternoon.

For last year’s event, Ortis Deley, technology presenter, and the reporter took center stage. This year, Matt Richardson, the well-known comedian, took on the position of EGR Awards host. An up-and-coming entertainer, and an award-winner himself in the comedy industry, Richardson was understandable, a more than suitable choice to host the proceedings on 30th June.

The top 2021 winners:

There were many impressive campaigns and nominees from the online gaming industry for this year’s awards, and most notably a drag-tastic Bingo marketing campaign from Paddy Power Bingo, which involved famous UK drag queens and a MINI Cooper full of Bingo balls — it was as wacky as it sounds!

But the top winners of the night had to be Casumo with their excellent casino marketing campaign, which the EGR judges described as a “very well-presented entry, mirroring the efforts and success of the campaign.”

They continued:

“[It was an] excellent campaign, showing a localized approach to innovation and communication… Well executed and received.”

888poker was also a highlight of the evening, winning the award for the Poker Marketing Campaign category, who were complimented for their well-designed and targeted campaign, which led to the success of its app download rates.
