Using the ‘silliest’ of arguments that India failed to respond to its request of resolving a ‘Murder Case’ under ‘trial’ through diplomatic means, Italian Government has unabashedly ‘defrauded’ Indian government going back on its promise of returning its ‘Sailors’ accused of killing Indian fishermen.
In the above video, the Two Italian marines charged with killing two fishermen off the coast of India are seen leaving for Italy to spend Christmas at home, after an Indian court accepted a plea by the sailors to be allowed to join their families for the holiday season.
Two Italian marines charged in India with killing two fishermen while on anti-piracy duty will not return from a special home visit granted to allow them to vote in last month’s general election, the Italian foreign ministry said on Monday.
The ministry said that India had not responded to Italian requests to seek a diplomatic solution to the case and there was now a formal dispute between the two countries over the terms of the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea.
“Italy has informed the Indian government that, given the formal initiation of an international dispute between the two states, the marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone will not return to India at the end of their home leave.”
Italian Government misbehavior in ‘defrauding’ Indian Court on silly grounds is understood to raise future issues on inter-Governmental issues apart from kicking an immediate furor over ‘legal’ aspects of a ‘Criminal Case’ of international nature.
It also shows that Italy has not yet come out of its ‘European Colonialist’ mentality even after a span of five decades after a ‘Colonial Second’ world war, in which Indians were considered and treated worse than slaves.
Last but not the least it becomes a very wrong precedent for Indian legal and criminal procedures with regard to foreign nationals, who would be presumed to have impunity for even ‘capital crimes’ like ‘Murder’.
