A French judge has been offered hard evidence that Gaddafi did send more than 50 million euros to Nicolas Sarkozy in illegal campaign financing. Ziad Takkedine, a middleman for international arms deals, even offered to expand the alleged conspiracy.
He claims to have written contracts, money transfers and other documents which show three French corporations receiving more than 100 million euros for work which never existed.
Also implicated were figures close to Sarkozy, including his former Interior Minister, Claude Gueant. Takkedine reportedly offered the proof in exchange for leniency regarding his involvement in the deadly scandal known as the Karachi Affair.
Sarkozy denied the latest accusations, as he has done every step of the way.
